What Is The Ideal Installation Height For A Towel Rack?
Nov 06, 2025
The installation height of a towel rack affects both ease of use and moisture protection for the towels. For face towels and hand towels, we recommend installing them on the wall next to the sink, at a height of approximately 110-130cm to ensure comfort. Electric towel racks are more suitable at a height of 120-130cm, making warmth readily accessible.
For bath towels and hair towels, considering their usage scenarios, we recommend installing them in the shower area or above the bathtub, typically at a height of about 1.6 meters, which is convenient to access and prevents them from getting wet.
In bathrooms with limited space, installing them behind the door or on the wall behind the door is also a good option, at a height of about 1.5 meters, saving space and being practical.
Of course, the installation height is not only for easy access but also to prevent towels from getting wet. Therefore, the height and usage habits of family members should also be considered when installing.
In addition, the installation height of single and double towel racks can be flexibly adjusted within the range of 900-1400mm depending on the actual situation. If installed next to the sink, a distance of 55cm from the countertop is recommended for both convenience and aesthetics.
The installation height of bath towel racks is usually set at around 1.8 meters, with bath towels on the upper shelf and hand towels on the lower shelf, which is both convenient and tidy. For installation opposite the faucet, the height is approximately 1.6 meters for easy access.
The installation of single-tube towel racks (foot towel racks) is more flexible. They can be installed on an open wall in the center of the bathroom, with the height from the ground selectable at 1.0 meter or 1.5 meters, depending on needs.
It is worth noting that the installation location of towel racks should also be determined based on the homeowner's personal preferences and actual needs. For towel racks with a height of 60cm or less, it is recommended to position them at eye level, about 60cm from the wall; towel racks with a height of 60-90cm require flexible height adjustment to accommodate the male homeowner's height. Towel racks larger than 100cm are more suitable for installation on a separate wall, where children's towels or dried socks and underwear can be placed underneath.
